Robert Weiss of MultiVision Digital.

Tell us about yourself?

President of MultiVision Digital, a New York video production and video marketing company, that provides the full spectrum of video strategy, video production and video marketing services.

Having produced over 1,200 videos since their inception, MultiVision Digital’s holistic approach has allowed clients to increase sales, lead generation, improve SEO rankings, increase awareness and client loyalty.

Clients range from solo-entrepreneurs to global Fortune 500 companies across almost every industry. But more importantly have executed successful business video strategy plans for every business objective.

If you could go back in time to any moment from your journey, and give yourself one tip, what would it be?

Invest in some PR into the right target industries and/or pay to be up on stage. Either of these two areas would have helped our stature / thought leadership.

While we did not do these years ago, we are planning do for / evaluating target markets do do this now.

What makes you stand out as an entrepreneur?

Grit and vision. From Day 1 I had a vision of where video was going and how businesses would be adopting video.

For the most part, all of that has come true and our business had evolved and grown with more and more businesses adopting video – not doing just one video, but really planning for a steady flow of video content across their entire customer journey.

That being said, it has been a slow going process as people / businesses do not change easily.

Thus grinding it out, week in / week out, month in / month out, year in / year out, making sure that we keep our marketing presence up in our target markets and with the people that we meet along the way has required a lot of activity, lots of “NOs” and a lot of grit.

What are some of the best working habits you’ve gained over the past couple of years?

Time management / juggling priorities – being an entrepreneur means you have many different types of activities on your plate and get pulled into different directions because people on your team need your input.

So being able to juggle these disparate activities and people’s needs, all while doing my day to day “job”, is probably one of the biggest habits I’ve been able to form and hone.

Give us a bit of an insight into the influences behind the company?

The way people research and buy has been the biggest influence on our company. That is because people are busy and they want to get information quicker and quicker…. and video gives them just that.

So previously companies needed to have a good website in order to convert leads…but since almost every company has a nice website, they need professional video that explains things that customers care about.

So the growing influence of how people are using the internet to find, evaluate and make purchases has been our biggest influence.

Where do you see your business in five years?

Because video is being adopted at a faster and faster pace, we see our company growing substantially. We would like to open an office in Philadelphia to service that market down to Washington DC.

Thus we would have a presence from DC to Boston, with offices in Philadelphia and NYC. As part of this growth, we see our services in live streaming, remote video production and video marketing growing much more than these have grown over the past 5 years.

What do you think the biggest challenge will be for you in getting there?

Same challenges as to date. Building a business is challenging, as there is a TON of quality competition.

So keeping the sales and marketing engine going strong is the biggest challenge.

Then, customer service and delivering a high quality product while bringing new people into the company is the next. If we can do that, then we will be successful in growing our company and achieving our targets.

Talk to us about your biggest success story so far?

We have many success stories from clients using video in different aspects of their sales and marketing objectives. From B2B sales videos that sales teams have been using every week for 4 years that make it easier for them to explain things to drive sales.

To a non profit that raised over 80k in one night, to a start up who raised over $1.2 million and to a law firm that, month in and month out, gets a higher rate of engagement on social media and email marketing with their videos. Our client’s success is our success.

How do clients and customers find you? Are you much of a salesperson for yourself?

Many find us via search results as since video is still at the early stages of adoption, many clients do not have a video production company relationship yet and use the internet to find one.

We also do outbound sales and networking events to target markets like legal, accounting and manufacturing.

What one tip would you give to fellow startup founders?

Keep focused customer acquisition and customer service. Even if you don’t make your full margin on the first sale, long term relationships are more important than short term $$$.

And finally, what do you hope the future brings both you personally, and your business?

More of the same! As a first time entrepreneur, who started a video production business without any background in video, I really enjoy what I do for a living, have a great crew I work with, we have fun and have great clients.
