How did you end up as a CEO? What was your route to this position?

My journey to becoming the CEO of Workzone.io has been nothing short of an exciting adventure. It all started with my passion for development, where I honed my skills as a dedicated developer, crafting innovative solutions and pushing boundaries. Along the way, I discovered my knack for leading teams and inspiring others to achieve greatness.

As I delved deeper into the world of technology and project management, I realized that I yearned for something more. The desire to create my own company, fueled by a burning entrepreneurial spirit, blossomed within me. It was a leap of faith, guided by a vision to revolutionize task management and empower individuals and teams to work more efficiently.

Embarking on this entrepreneurial path wasn’t always easy. There were countless late nights, challenging decisions, and risks taken. However, fueled by my unwavering determination and surrounded by a team of talented individuals who shared my vision, I forged ahead.

With each step forward, the dream of Workzone.io became a reality. Today, as the CEO, I am humbled and proud to lead a team of passionate professionals who are dedicated to creating an exceptional task management platform. Together, we strive to make Workzone.io the go-to solution for individuals and businesses seeking to streamline their workflow, boost productivity, and achieve their goals.

Why are you the right person to be the CEO of your company?

Well, let me tell you a little secret – being the CEO of this company wasn’t part of my original life plan. I mean, who wakes up one day and says, “Hey, I’m going to be the CEO!” But here I am, and I’ll tell you why I’m the right person for the job.

First of all, I have an unhealthy obsession with task management. Seriously, it’s like a weird superpower. I eat, sleep, and dream about finding the most efficient ways to tackle those to-do lists. I may or may not have a cape hidden in my office.

Secondly, I’ve gathered a team of extraordinary individuals who are just as passionate as I am. We’re like a bunch of task management superheroes, fighting the evil forces of chaos and disorganization. Trust me, it’s a thrilling adventure every day.

Lastly, and most importantly, I have a great sense of humor. Because let’s face it, task management can be stressful, and we all need a good laugh along the way. Laughter is like fuel for productivity, and I make it my mission to keep the team smiling and motivated.

So, yeah, maybe I don’t fit the stereotypical CEO mold, but I believe that being a little unconventional is what makes our company special. We’re not afraid to think outside the box, have a good laugh, and revolutionize the way people manage tasks. And that, my friend, is why I’m the perfect fit to be the CEO of this crazy, innovative, and slightly hilarious company.

What gets you up in the morning?

What gets me up in the morning? Well, besides my 8-year-old kid who’s an expert at early morning wake-up calls and my perpetually coffee-addicted wife, it’s the thrill of making task management extraordinary. I’m fueled by the excitement of transforming the way people work, the joy of building an amazing team, and the satisfaction of creating something truly remarkable. Oh, and the promise of that first sip of coffee helps too!

Who helped you get to where you are today?

The love and support of my family, including my three incredible kids and two precious grandchildren, has been my driving force, while the unwavering friendship of my closest friends has been my anchor. Along the way, even the challenges and resistance from foes have fueled my determination and shaped me into the resilient person and successful CEO I am today.

What is the best or worst business advice you have received and from whom?

The best business advice I’ve received was from a wise mentor who told me to focus on what I do best. They emphasized the importance of honing my strengths, leveraging my expertise, and delivering exceptional value in those areas.

On the other hand, the worst advice came from someone who encouraged me to spend years researching the market before taking any action. I soon realized that, like hairdresser shops, there will always be a mix of good and bad businesses. The key is to provide a quality service or product consistently, as satisfied customers will return. Just like a bad hairdresser won’t retain clients, spending too much time on market research alone can hinder progress and delay success.

What are the most important values you demonstrate as a leader?

Be like water. As a leader, I embody the values of adaptability, integrity, and humility. I flow with the ever-changing currents, adjusting my approach to meet the needs of my team. I stand firmly in my principles, fostering trust and transparency. Above all, I remain humble, continuously learning and growing, for true leadership lies in embracing the journey of self-discovery and inspiring others to do the same.

How can a leader fail?

A leader can fail when they lose sight of their true essence. Like a martial artist who loses their focus and becomes distracted, a leader can fail when they succumb to ego, rigidity, and closed-mindedness. True leadership requires adaptability, humility, and an unwavering commitment to growth. Failure arises when a leader neglects to cultivate these qualities, becoming trapped in a cycle of stagnation and complacency. To avoid failure, a leader must embrace the eternal journey of learning, evolve with the changing dynamics, and lead with a mind as open and fluid as water.

What does the next five years hold for you?

In the next five years, my vision is to release the reins and empower a younger generation of leaders to carry the torch forward. I aspire to expand our reach, potentially exploring partnerships or even selling our product to established entities like Jira or Microsoft. And personally, I dream of embracing the forever summer, basking in the warmth of new adventures and opportunities that lie ahead. The journey continues, and I eagerly anticipate the exciting chapters yet to be written.

Mentorship is a big business in the west, do you have any experience with it?

Indeed, I have had the privilege of mentoring several developers throughout my career. Guiding and supporting aspiring talents is a fulfilling experience for me. Witnessing their growth, witnessing their passion ignite, and witnessing their accomplishments brings me great joy. Mentoring allows me to share my knowledge, insights, and experiences to help shape the next generation of professionals. It is an opportunity to give back and contribute to the continuous development of the industry.
