I’m John Ikpeme, innovator and dreamer, with years of experience in product design and technical support. I’m the CEO & Founder of Dash Studios, with a passion for creating world class gaming titles for Mobile, PC & Console.
What do you think is the single biggest misconception people have when it comes to startups?
To begin a startup, you must be a seasoned expert in the field’. This is far from the truth, as when I launched Dash Studios, I had just concluded a Petroleum Engineering major with little to no experience in game development. Passion, hardwork and perseverance does the trick.
If you could go back in time to any moment from your journey, and give yourself one tip, what would it be?
Don’t try to rush the process, enjoy the journey. Great things require the greatest work and the greatest works take time.
What makes you stand out as an entrepreneur?
I’m always a visionary. I have a drive to develop products not just for a local audience, but an international one.
What are some of the best working habits you’ve gained over the past couple of years?
I’ve learnt to a better leader and people person, rather than being an aggressive task master.
Give us a bit of an insight into the influences behind the company?
Dash Studios is a solution to the low growth of gaming titles from the African Continent. Despite the high growth of this multi billion dollar industry around the world, Africa is significantly behind. Dash Studios solves this by releasing world class gaming titles published around the world, and it all starts with our unique pioneer product, NOUNS.
Where do you see your business in five years?
Dash Studios will be the biggest gaming giant from the Africa, with gaming titles enjoyed by millions worldwide.
What do you think the biggest challenge will be for you in getting there?
Funding and acquisition of the best team to achieve this, because with expansion comes a bigger responsibility on efficiency of delivery
Talk to us about your biggest success story so far?
Dash Studios has been sucessful in the acquisition of a talented team of individuals from Programmers, to designers and database experts, working on NOUNS
How do clients and customers find you? Are you much of a salesperson for yourself?
Our products are available on all application stores (Apple and Google Play) and our marketing platform are major social media outlets to expand our reach, and attract new players.
What one tip would you give to fellow startup founders?
You’re allowed to start small, but don’t think small. Develop your products to compete compete a global stage, or you’ll go out of relevance soon.
And finally, what do you hope the future brings both you personally, and your business?
We hope to create a ripple effect with Dash Studios in Africa, leading to the sprout of similar game developers with a global view.
